Lead Glass for X-Ray Radiation Protection Window

Category:

Description

Leaded x-ray glass is used in viewing windows to provide safe protective shielding against x-ray radiation for medical, technical, and research applications.

X-ray glass has high lead and barium content, providing optimum shielding against radiation from equipment operating in the 80 to 300 kV range.

Our standard x-ray glass is 1/4″ thick and provides a shielding equivalent of 2.0mm Pb over the typical medical radiation spectrum of 50-110 kV.  This is the same glass used in our mobile x-ray barriers.

Standard sizes range from 24″ x 30″ up to 36″ x 72″.  Custom sizes are also available.

Common Applications for Leaded Glass Windows include:

  • Medical X-Ray Radiology
  • Chiropractic X-Ray
  • Dental X-Ray
  • Mammography
  • Flouroscopy
  • Angiography
  • CT (Computerized Tomography)
  • PET (Positron Emission Tomography)
  • Nuclear Medicine
  • X-Ray Security Screens
  • Nuclear Facility Control Rooms
  • NDT Testing Facilities

The shielding requirements of each room are dependent on the machine or source, location and many other factors. Exact shielding requirements should be determined by a licensed radiation physicist.
